Lille Grand Palais works in partnership with various local players such as the Regional Congress Bureau and the Office of Tourism and Congress Lille.
Designed by the architect Rem Koolhass and inaugurated in 1994, Lille Grand Palais is an exceptional centre, unique in Europe, highly adaptable and housing many inter-communicating spaces under one roof: congress-convention-seminar, exhibitions and the Zenith Arena.

Rem Koolhaas
At the beginning of the 1980s, the young Dutch architect started looking into unusual architectural concepts and involved the OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture) in numerous international competitions: the Parc de La Villette, the ZKM, the French National Library… The Villa dall’Ava in Saint-Cloud and Nexus Housing were amongst his main architectural triumphs.
In 1989, he was entrusted with the Euralille city development project. In 5 years he managed to convert a huge area of seventy hectares of field plans – adjacent to the old station and the commercial centre, right in the heart of Lille – into office and head office space. When building the Lille Grand Palais the architect opted for the use of economical materials such as plastic and plywood.

In 2000, his career was recognised with the award of the Pritzker Prize, considered one of the greatest distinctions in architecture.
